The ZOID CITY Community Portal Project
Back to the Main ZOID Page.
The best part of being on the internet is sharing, and that is what this
portal is all about. A portal is a large, well organized group of handy
links. I hope you make the ZOID Portal your start up page. Though it is nowhere
near as extensive as Yahoo, DMoz, or About, the ZOID portal is noncommercial,
nonprofit, and yours. You can make this your starting page. If there is a link you
would like to see here just send it to me,
ZOIDRubashov. This portal needs more links to sites that deal with the humanities,
literature, mythology, religion, plants, birds, reptiles, farm animals,
and much more..
To copy a link, hit the right button on your mouse and click
on copy link location, and then paste the link on to a
document, or into the location bar, travel to that site, and bookmark it.
You can also put an adopted link into a page that you are coding.

HTML
Tutorials and Utilities Special Thanks to Tasia for
some of these links (as noted). |
| Beginning HTML
at HTML Goodies Primers, discussions via
web boards, and more. There is a section on 4.0 tags. Beware of all
new bells and whistles. They don't show up on everyone's browser. Link
donated by Tasia. |

Writing HTMLMaricopia Community College in Phoenix,
Arizona's guide to making web pages the old fashionned way.
Has lots of explanation, and is designed for those who work in
low-resource environments. That means most of us! |
"The
Urbana HTML Primer" This was the
tutorial I used to innitially learn HTML back in 1996. It may not
offer a lot of explanation or aesthetic appeal, but it has good
logical organization and a beginner can use it to put a page together
in a matter of days. |
HTML
Tutorials for the Complete Idiot This Geocities tutorial, complete
with "pop," offers instruction in the finer points
of coding despite its misleading name. It covers guest books and
chat rooms, items often left out of academic tutorials. |
| Introduction
to HTML -- Table of Contents Part one of Case Western Reserve's HTML
tutorial. Covers the basics of the basics. Most folks interested in
creating personal pages will need part two as well. |
Here's Wilbur --
Table of Contents Part two of Case Western Reserve's
HTML tutorial. Covers table work, backgrounds, images, color, and much more. |
Brian
Hall's Java Colorserve Test out background
and text colors for your web page without having to use trial
and error or master complex hexidecimal code. Just find colors you like,
copy down the code, and put it in. Requires a Java capable browser. |

Animal Links |
| Feline Links
These are links to sites featured durinng our All about Cats Scrimmage
8/22-8/26/99. Note: there is a feline dissection
link in here. If this is not your thing, please avoid it. |
Kitten Rescue -- The
Undisputed Winner of the All About Cats Scrimmage and for
good reason. |
Just
Cats If you enjoy meeting cats, this site's for you. |
For the
Love of Cats Health and behavior information for avid cat lovers and their
pets. |
Cat Dissection Online This controversial site took Third Place
Honors in the Scrimmage. I included it because cats
teach us about our own anatomy. |
Animal

| Urban
Exploration LinksThese are mostly links from our Urban Exploration
Scrimmage 8/15-8/19/99. They are great examples of the interesting
content that sometimes appears on web pages. |
| The Guts of
St. Michael's Hospital - A behind the scenes look at a large
Canadian hospital. Yes, this may involve trespassing. |
The Royal
York Hotel - A third place winner in our Urban Exploration Scrimmage. Yes,
this may discuss trespassing. |
The Fabulous Ruins
of Detroit - This second place Scrimmage winner, details this
imploded city's industrial past. |
|
The Minneapolis Drain Archives Intrepid students' not quite legal ventures through
the sewers beneath Minneapolis. |
The
Catacombs of Paris Catacombs are tombs filled with bones, often dug
up from temporary graves in cemetaries. Definitely not for the squeamish. |
Forgotten New York Take
a trip back into the Big Apple's past through the remains
of that past still visible today. This site took First Place honors
in the Urban Exploration Scrimmage and for good reason. |
Danvers
State Hospital The black and white photos of this abandoned
psychiatric hospital need no introduction. Still one of my favorite
urban exploration sites. |
